Foreword

The Seventh Finnish-Japanese Joint Symposium on Optics in Engineering - OIE'07 - will be held at the Hotel Cumulus Pinja in Tampere, Finland, during August 8-10, 2007. The Symposium is an international joint meeting that follows the previous symposia held in Lappeenranta, 1995; Tsukuba, 1997; Kajaani, 1999; Osaka, 2001; Saariselkä, 2003; and Sapporo, 2005.

The aim of the Symposium is to provide a timely forum for presenting novel and innovative results on new physics, technologies and device applications in optics-related fields, and to promote the interaction between Finnish and Japanese scientists who are working in the fields of pure and applied optics and photonics.
